Dr Werner Lanthaler, Chief Executive Officer, EVOTEC

Dr Werner Lanthaler was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Evotec in March 2009. From March 2000 to March 2009 he was Chief Financial Officer at Intercell AG. During his tenure, Intercell developed from a venture-backed biotechnology company into a global vaccine player. Dr Lanthaler played a pivotal role in many of the company's major corporate milestones including the product approval of Intercell's Japanese Encephalitis Vaccine, the company's acquisitions and strategic pharma partnerships, as well as the company's Initial Public Offering in 2005. Previously, from 1998 to 2000 Dr Lanthaler served as Director of the Federation of Austrian Industry, and from 1995 to 1998 as Senior Management Consultant at the consulting firm McKinsey & Company.

He holds a doctorate in economics from Vienna University, earned his Master's degrees from Harvard University, and holds a degree in Psychology.

Axel Eichmeyer, Managing Partner, ECM EQUITY CAPITAL MANAGEMENT

Axel Eichmeyer is the Managing Partner of ECM Equity Capital Management GmbH (“ECM”). ECM manages the private equity fund German Equity Partners III which invests in medium-sized companies in the context of corporate spin-offs or ownership successions. Prior to joining ECM in 1998 Axel Eichmeyer had worked for five years for Price Waterhouse in London and Berlin primarily in the business recovery group. He holds a Masters Degree in Economics and Politics from Edinburgh University and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Carlo Pirzio Biroli, Managing Director, Co-Head of Global Secondaries, DEUTSCHE BANK PRIVATE EQUITY

Based in London, Carlo is responsible for the origination, investing and distribution activities of the Secondary Opportunities Funds globally
Co-founded the DB Secondary Team in 2006 after participating in a senior role in the restructuring of the Bank’s €6 billion proprietary private equity portfolio in the UK and US in 2003-06. Previously he was the CEO of CDB Web Tech SpA, a publicly listed venture fund of funds; lead cross-business operational improvement projects as an Executive in Corporate Initiatives at General Electric Corp. in Fairfield (CT); and advised Fortune 500 clients as consultant at The Boston Consulting Group in New York. Earlier in his career, he served in the Italian Navy as an Officer and worked as a Professional Engineer in Italy in the construction industry. MBA from Columbia Business School Laurea (equiv. MSc) in Civil Engineering from the University of Rome, Italy.

Gunter Waldner, Principal, ALPINVEST PARTNERS N.V.

Gunter joined AlpInvest Partners in 2007 from Lehman Brother's Investment Banking Division in London, where he was an Executive Director responsible for advising clients primarily on transactions in the media and communications sector in Germany, Austria, the UK, Scandinavia, and the Benelux working also closely with many private equity investors. Bringing 10 years of related experience to AlpInvest Partners, Gunter is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and executing secondary private equity transaction opportunities with a particular focus on German speaking Europe, the UK and Italy.

Gunter received a master in business and economics from Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration. He is an Austrian national.

Heiko Von Dewitz, Investment Director, INTEL CAPITAL

Heiko v. Dewitz, Investment Director with Intel Capital, is responsible for Intel Capital’s semiconductor and cleantech investment activities in Western Europe and Israel. Intel Capital, Intel’s global investment organization, makes equity investments in innovative technology start-ups and companies worldwide. Intel Capital is stage agnostic and invests in a broad range of companies offering hardware, software and services targeting enterprise, home, mobility, health, consumer Internet, semiconductor manufacturing, and cleantech. As of end of March 2010, the Intel Capital investment portfolio is valued at approximately US $2 billion.
Heiko is based in Munich, Germany.
Prior to joining Intel he was a management consultant with A.T. Kearney’s high-tech & communications practice and was also working as a software engineer.
He holds a MSc. in electrical engineering from Technical University of Munich and an MBA from Insead.

Umberto Magnetti, Vice President and Program Head Adveq Secondaries, ADVEQ MANAGEMENT AG

Prior to joining Adveq in 2007, Umberto Magnetti (34) was a consultant with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), previously in Milan, later in the Zurich office. With BCG, Umberto worked on various projects in Italy, Switzerland and Germany across a broad range of industries. Before that, Umberto was an engineer at Fiat-GM Powertrain developing Diesel engines for European and Asian car makers.

Umberto holds a master degree in Aerospace Engineering from Politecnico, Milan and an MBA from IESE, Barcelona.

Marion Jung, Principal, EARLYBIRD VENTURE CAPITAL

Dr. Marion Jung joined Earlybird in 1999 as an Associate and was promoted to Principal in 2002.

She has more than 11 years experience as investor with focus on medical technology,, pharmaceutical industry and cleantech and has been involved in building Earlybird´s portfolio in the healthcare markets in Europe and the US. With her broad international network, Marion works closely with Earlybird´s portfolio companies to help them achieve their value-creating milestones as well as being involved from Earlybird's initial investment through subsequent financing rounds and exit. These companies include Amaxa AG (Cologne) which was sold to Lonza Group Ltd. (SWX: LONN), Wilex which listed on Prime Standard Frankfurt Exchange (WL6). and Dianoema S.p.A., which listed on the Borsa Italiana (Milan: NOE.MI).
Marion joined Earlybird after her postdoctoral training in molecular biology at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich. She earned her PhD under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Svante Pääbo while working on genetic peculiarities of mammalian mitochondria. She gained further research expertise in programs at Arizona State University in Phoenix, Arizona and at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Massachusetts.

Marion received a Dipl.- Biol. (MS equivalent) from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich. She is the author of several articles that have been published in peer reviewed journals.

Stephan Grillmaier, Partner, MVISION

Stephan Grillmaier joined MVision in 2007. He is a highly experienced private equity investment professional with a strong background in private equity and alternative assets investing.
At MVision Stephan manages a number of the firm’s global fundraisings as well as maintaining relationships with general partners and limited partners in Europe, the US, and Asia.
Previously Stephan was a Director at Horizon21 Private Equity, a dedicated manager of Swiss Re’s alternative assets in Pfaeffikon, Switzerland. Prior to joining Horizon21, Stephan was a Vice President and Head of Europe in Swiss Re’s private equity fund of funds team in Zurich. In his roles at Swiss Re and Horizon21, Stephan led numerous fund investments in Europe as well as Asia/Pacific, and served on the advisory board of a number of private equity funds. During his tenure with Swiss Re and Horizon21 Stephan was also closely involved in their fundraising activities. Prior to joining Swiss Re’s private equity fund of funds team, Stephan was a Senior Investment Professional with VCM Capital Management in Munich, Germany.
Stephan has a BA degree in International Relations from Webster University St. Louis, USA, and a M.Litt. degree in Management, Economics, and Politics from University of St. Andrews in Scotland.

Edin Hadzic founded PARAGON PARTNERS in 2004 together with Krischan von Moeller and Stefan Winterling. Previously, Edin Hadzic was with Triton, a European private equity firm with offices in Frankfurt, London and Stockholm, where he became partner in 2000 and was responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and structuring private equity transactions.
Prior to joining Triton, Edin Hadzic was with Drueker & Co. for two years, where he was responsible for advising on and arranging a wide range of transactions, including M&A, IPOs and leveraged buyouts.
Edin Hadzic was previously with Arthur Andersen for nearly three years in Transaction Services, Advisory and Corporate Finance Divisions, where he was involved in advising on and the structuring of a wide range of national and cross-border transactions and private equity investments.
Edin Hadzic holds a PhD in International Tax Law and a Master’s Degree in Finance and Economics from the University of Mannheim, Germany.

Sonya Pauls, Partner, SJ BERWIN. Sonya Pauls is a partner in the London & Munich offices of SJ Berwin. She specialises in advising national and global fund managers (with a particular focus on emerging markets) on the structuring and establishment of private equity and other investment funds. She also represents leading investors in alternative assets. Sonya additionally focuses on carried interest arrangements and other questions relating to corporate finance work.
She has been advising on private equity issues since 1996 and has been a partner of SJ Berwin since 2000.
Sonya is a Rechtsanwältin (qualified German lawyer), a solicitor (England & Wales), a currently non-practising barrister (Lincoln's Inn, England & Wales) as well as an attorney-at-law (New York).
She is listed as a "recommended" lawyer in funds formation in the PLC Which Lawyer? Yearbook. She is also recognised as a leading international practitioner in the global reviews of Chamber’s Europe, Who’s Who Legal/Private Funds, Juve and others.

Dr. Alexandra Goll joined TVM Capital in early 1998, and has since been responsible for more than 20 TVM Capital life science investments. She was an initial investor in Actelion Ltd (Allschwil, Switzerland) and a Series B lead investor of Idenix Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Cambridge, Massachusetts). Dr. Goll was a member of the Board of Directors of Idenix until the sale of 51% of the company to Novartis in May 2003.

Currently, Dr. Goll serves on the Board of Directors of Albireo (Gothenburg, Sweden), Biovertis AG (Vienna, Austria), Cerenis Therapeutics (Toulouse, France and Ann Arbor, MI) and Wilex AG (Munich, Germany). She also represents the interests of TVM Capital with Addex Pharmaceuticals SA (Geneva, Switzerland), Ark Therapeutics Ltd. (London, UK), EUSA Pharma Ltd. (Europe), GPC Biotech AG (Martinsried, Germany), MediGene AG (Martinsried) and Newron Pharmaceuticals SpA, (Bresso, Italy).

Prior to her affiliation with TVM Capital, Dr. Goll was the Global Business Leader for HIV and CMV, and was responsible for strategic marketing and business development for Virology at Roche Ltd. in Basel. She had been involved in clinical development and managing commercialization strategies of products such as Neupogen® (under an agreement with Amgen), Hivid®, Cymevene® and Valcyte®. Dr. Goll holds a degree in pharmacy from the Free University of Berlin, and wrote her doctoral dissertation in natural sciences at Philipps University of Marburg. She was also honored with a post-doctoral position supported by the Boehringer-Ingelheim Foundation for fundamental research in medicine.

Rainer Strohmenger has over 20 investments in start-up companies, Rainer is one of Europe’s most experienced venture capitalists in Life Sciences. Joining Wellington Partners in 1997, he became a Partner in December 2000. His ten years of investment activity involved financing of some of the most successful European biotech companies.
In the late 1990s he co-managed Wellington’s investment in Swiss biotech player Actelion, today a listed company with a market cap of more than four billion euros. He was also responsible for the investments in Grandis (acquired by Novartis), Noema Life (Borsa Italiana:NOE), Wavelight (Deutsche Boerse:WLT), as well as immatics.
Prior to joining Wellington Partners, Rainer was involved in medical research with a primary focus on cardiovascular physiology and in research on health economics at Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich.
Rainer studied medicine and economics and holds a doctorate in medicine as well as a master's degree in economics.

Dr. Matthias Unser, CFA, is Managing Director at DB Private Equity and Head of Private Debt Investments. He is responsible for a portfolio of mezzanine fund commitments of over €800m and was instrumental in raising the first dedicated mezzanine fund of funds in Europe in 2003. Previously he worked for the Corporate Finance Practice of PriceWaterhouseCoopers, advising entrepreneurs on venture capital and private equity financings. Matthias is a member of the advisory boards of several mezzanine partnerships in Europe and the U.S. He studied business administration at the University of Bamberg, Germany, holds a PhD in finance and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Uwe Kolb joined Bridgepoint in 2006 and is the Partner responsible for our German speaking operations. Uwe previously worked as a Partner at Permira. Prior to Permira, Uwe was the Managing Partner of PwC‘s transaction services team in Germany and was the Managing Partner responsible for the PwC European Mid Market Practice. He is an accountant and qualified auditor with an MBA from Saarbruecken University.

Paul De Ridder (1956) founded the Halder office in Germany in 1991, recruited the team and defined the investment process for the local market. He participates in all investment decisions made by the German team. From 1978 to 1991 he worked with international corporate clients of Continental Bank, postings included Brussels and Milan, after which he was the bank’s Managing Director and Head of Corporate Finance in Frankfurt.

Paul De Ridder studied Business Management at University of Antwerp (UFSIA) and took his MBA at Antwerp Handelshogeschool.

Martin Anthonsen, Managing Director, MONUMENT GROUP. Martin joined Monument Group in London in early 2006. Previously he was co-founder and CIO of Nordic Alternative Investment Advisors in Stockholm. Martin headed the investment organisation responsible for managing all private equity and hedge fund assets for Länsförsäkringar AB.
Prior to founding Nordic Advisors, Martin spent six years with Länsförsäkringar, ultimately serving as head of the private equity and hedge fund investment activities. Martin holds an MSc in Business and Economics from School of Business, Economics and Law at University of Gothenburg, part of which was obtained at the Stern Graduate School of Business, New York University.

Mark Drugan is a Director in the Investment Management team at Capital Dynamics. He has over 21 years of experi-ence evaluating, selecting and monitoring private equity fund investments and sits on several private equity fund advisory boards. Mark has been closely involved in the design and implementation of the British Venture Capital Association’s annual performance measurement survey since the pilot study in the early 1990s. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Birmingham.

Nick Money-Kyrle is managing partner and the founder of the Frankfurt based Steadfast Capital Group. He began his career in the German private equity business in 1994 and has held investment and management responsibilities with 3i Deutschland, GE Capital and BHF Bank. Prior to private equity, Nick worked for eight years for KPMG in Edinburgh and Düsseldorf. He possesses extensive deal experience primarily in direct LBO participations and also in fund-of-fund and secondary business. He has negotiated several fund contracts both as a GP and an LP. Yvonne Stillhart is Senior Partner of akina Ltd. She has more than 17 years’ experience in private equity and investment banking. Yvonne was one of the founders of akina (formerly known as LODH Private Equity), where she has been instrumental in the build-up of the organisation. She is a member of the investment committee and co-heads the investment activity within akina ltd. Yvonne is today
responsible for akina’s entire fund investment activity. She also holds country chairs in various European regions where she has also been responsible for numerous private equity investments. Prior to the foundation of akina ltd. in 1999, Yvonne worked, following an
assignment in New York, at UBS, where she was responsible for a number of acquisitions, management buy-outs and leveraged share buy-back transactions in a wide range of industries. Transactions included one of the largest buy-outs ever done in Switzerland to date. During the same period, Yvonne made several private
equity investments in European companies. Initially, Yvonne joined UBS corporate finance, where she was an advisor to Swiss
multinationals. She was responsible for numerous transactions involving corporate and capital restructurings, M&A, debt and equity financings and corporate finance advice. Yvonne holds a degree in economics and accounting from the University of Applied Sciences in Zurich and an Executive Program Degree from Harvard Business School, Boston. She is fluent in three languages. Yvonne currently holds various board seats in investments in Germany, Switzerland the Netherlands and Austria.

Dr. Ingo Krocke is CEO of AUCTUS Capital Partners AG. He has been working in private equity since the mid-nineties.

Following his studies of medicine in Bonn and Paris, Dr. Krocke worked as medical doctor in Barcelona and New York.

He then spent four years as a Brand Manager at Procter & Gamble. From Frankfurt and London he looked after brands like Ellen Betrix, Oil of Olaz, Cover Girl and Always.

His entrance into private equity took place at Apax Partners, a worldwide leading company with emphasis on management buy-outs and capital growth. There he focused on medicine technology, consumer goods, retail, and IT.
Before founding AUCTUS, Dr. Krocke was founder and Managing Partner of Wellington Partners in Munich. Together with two partners he had set up a venture capital fund with fifteen professionals, a fund volume of 250 m EUR and a focus on IT and services.

Günther P. Skrzypek, Managing Partner, AUGUR CAPITAL completed a trainee program at Morgan Guaranty Trust (today J.P. Morgan), after having completed his studies in mathematics and business economics. After various management activities in corporate banking, corporate finance, and institutional sales, in 1989 he accepted the responsibility for the asset management business of JP Morgan for Germany and Central Europe and was appointed to the European management board of JPMIM. In 1997 and 1998 he was responsible for Schroeder Investment Management’s asset-management transactions in German speaking Europe as well as Eastern Europe. From 1999 to 2003, as Country Head, he was responsible for the German business of AXA Investment Managers. Besides, as a member of the global executive board he was directly responsible, among others, for AXA IM Netherlands, and institutional transactions in northern Europe. In 2003, he founded Augur Capital together with his partner Dr. Thomas Schmitt.

Frank Dornseifer is Managing Director Legal and Policy Affairs of Bundesverband Alternative Investments e.V. He studied law at the universities of Bonn, Dublin (Trinity College) and Lausanne. After admission to the German bar in 2000 he practised various years as attorney in an international law firm in the field of corporate and securities law before joining the German Financial Regulator BaFin as deputy head of the policy unit within the investment management department. In this function he also represented BaFin in the Investment Management Committee of IOSCO, which elaborated in this time various reports on (fund of) hedge funds. Mr. Dornseifer frequently publishes articles both on investment and corporate law and he is editor of the compendium „Corporate Business Forms in Europe“. The finance committee of the German Bundestag denominated him several times as authorized expert on capital market law. Mr. Dornseifer gives frequently speeches at national and international conferences on investment and regulatory topics.

Dr. Bernd Kreuter, Partner, Feri Institutional Advisors
Dr. Bernd Kreuter, CFA, is a partner of Feri. Feri manages money from institutional investors as well as high net worth individuals. Since he joined Feri in 2001 he has been involved in over 100 investments in private equity funds, real estate funds, and hedge funds. He serves on the board of several funds. Previously he worked at a corporate finance boutique and in the financial services division of SAP after being an assistant professor for Computer Science at Humboldt Universitaet zu Berlin. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science, masters’ degrees in mathematics from Bonn and Paris VI, a master’s degree in economics, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Philippe Munch, Investment Director, Greenpark Capital Ltd

Philippe is an Investment Director at Greenpark Capital and joined the firm in 2003 from Société Générale Investment Banking, where he had spent two years in Corporate Finance/M&A. Prior to this, Philippe spent three years in project management at a German automotive components manufacturing company before completing an MBA at the European School of Management ESCP-EAP (Paris & Oxford) in 2000. Philippe is French and is fluent in German and English.

Jeremy Golding, a British national, is Founder and Managing Director of Golding Capital Partners based in Munich. Since 1999 he has grown Golding Capital Partners to become one of Germany’s leading investment managers for private equity fund investments.

Jeremy Golding looks back on a 20-year international career with leading multinational companies. Mr. Golding has lived and worked in Germany, US, France, UK and the Middle East, holding management positions with General Electric, GE International, GE Capital, and the Boston Consulting Group. He holds an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.

Daniel Schmidt, Managing Director, CEPRES. Dr. Schmidt is founding and managing partner at CEPRES GmbH, which serves private equity investors with scientifically founded products and advisory. CEPRES’ product range focuses on a more cost efficient, online-based support of all processes in the private equity value chain from fund raising to due diligence and sophisticated market analysis. All products leverage the unique information derived from the proprietary CEPRES dataset, which has brought CEPRES worldwide recognition.

Dr. Daniel Schmidt has a 10-year experience in private equity and asset management, working as a managing director of Sal Oppenheim Private Equity Partners (today Deutsche Bank Private Equity Partners) and as an investment manager at VCM Capital Management, focusing chiefly on investments in US, Eastern European and Indian private equity funds.

Dr. Daniel Schmidt studied business administration at the University of Mannheim and Trinity College Dublin. His PHD, taken at Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, formed part of an EU-funded research project on the subject of private equity.

Ralf Flore Chief Executive Officer und Managing Partner
Ralf Flore, der seit März 2006 zum Team gehört, hat acht Jahre Private Equity- und fünf Jahre Industrie-Erfahrung vorzuweisen. Zuvor war er als Investment Director bei Go Equity in Wien für Expansions- und Buyout-Situationen zuständig. Zwischen 2002 und 2004 bekleidete Ralf den Posten eines Investment Managers bei der Züricher Swiss Life Private Equity Partners. Von 2000 bis 2002 war er für den Private Equity-Arm UBS Capital der Investmentbank UBS Warburg Dillon Read als Mitarbeiter der Tochtergesellschaft CapVis Equity Partners in Zürich tätig. Ralf hat sein Betriebswirtschaftsstudium in Deutschland mit den Schwerpunkten strategisches Management und Controlling abgeschlossen. Er spricht fließend Deutsch, Englisch und Spanisch.
